fabulous

 hello stampers!

Today I had a little spare time and gravitated toward my craft space - lucky me! I was inspired by the AAA cards challenge this week #197

I like the idea of a 1 inch strip - everything has to fit into that tiny little area and it certainly brings out your creative side. I recently received some stamps (finally!) so I searched for an interesting one that would fit within the 1 inch.

I started with a card panel that I had previously smooshed with watered distress oxide inks - blues mainly. I wanted to make it look like a lagoon for the beautiful flamingo so I blended more colours for the sandy swamp area at the base. Using my Misti, I stamped the flamingo several times with spun sugar and abandoned coral getting nice drifts of the colours, to look like feathers. Lastly I stamped just the beak with black. I cut the strip at 1 inch.  Another smooshed card base was used for the sentiment and hearts - this one was in pinks. I die cut the hearts, stamped the sentiment and then glued them onto the strip, trimming the sides.

Using a coloured card base doesn't feel CAS, funnily enough but I just had to go with blushing bride, as it matched the distress oxide colours I had for the flamingo. I found the card base was too stark with all the watercolours so I laid a panel of vellum over the card base, gluing it under the strip only. I think it lends an ethereal feel to the scene.

Thanks for stopping by and stay safe!

sweet

 hello stampers!

I have some birthdays coming up and have been busy making cards with some new dies and stamps. What fun! For this card I am taking on challenge #433 from CAS Colours and sketches.

My idea was for a super clean card and I used a new die from Paper Rose I recently received.

Too cute! I used real red card for the background panel, and made the die cuts several times from each of the colours plus white for the inserts. I stamped the sentiment and white heat embossed it on a real red banner piece.

Thanks for stopping by and stay safe!

**Edit: I'm thrilled to be chosen in the weekly winners for this card!

seashell

 hello there stampers!

I have a lovely card for you today that I made for a friend. The inspiration was the current challenge at CAS colours and sketches #432

In Melbourne here, we're coming to the end of winter and a little dose of summer would be most welcome! A little memory of the beach and collecting seashells proved to be too enticing to pass up.

I started by using watered distress oxide inks and smooshing the colours over a couple of white card panels. Once dry, I stamped the shells over the interesting coloured spots of one card, and used the other card as the background panel. The stamped images were fussy cut and glued to the white base. The inchies fit perfectly on the card! The sentiment was glued to a pool party card strip to match the seaside colours.

Thanks for stopping by!

ingredients:

stamps: darkroom door seaside inchies

inks: distress oxide scattered straw, tumbled glass, peacock feathers, memento tuxedo black

 hello snarky stampers!

This week's challenge by the good sisters at the snarky sisterhood presented a lot of options for me... the challenge thrown down by Edna is #191 F is for F words

I have totally given up on buying stamps at the moment. All this covid business has slowed down the post to a crawl, and that's if the parcel arrives at all. I don't even bother ordering from the US. My wish list is totally out of control. The last stamps I purchased never appeared and now a refund has miraculously been put into my account - Doh! I want the stamps! Needless to say I have become quite fond of surfing the net and 'send to print'.  But I digress...

Don't know about you but his face is totally how I feel some days.  ðŸ˜‰ Nuff said.

Distress oxide ink blended over a stencil and then blended the same colours in the background. The pic and words are now dubbed digi stamps by me! Printed, glued onto card and blended lightly with the same inks.

Come have some {f}un with the sisterhood! Thanks for stopping by!

**Edit: I'm thrilled to be crowned Queen for this challenge! It was a hoot!

distress oxide inks: chipped sapphire, vintage photo, seedless preserves

hello

 hello crafty stampers!

I have a lovely card today made specially for the freshly made sketches challenge #496.

I do like using up the little bits of card that inevitably end up in a stash of its own! This sketch challenge allowed me to do just that!

I started with white card then cut the mint macaron to suit the 2 shapes. For the 3rd shape I used my cloud stencil and blended distress oxide ink to create a clouds-through-a-window effect. After gluing the shapes down, I stamped the kitty and the cushion and bowl then fussy cut them. I did colour a little around kitty as he was a bit one dimensional. I die cut the hello from shaded spruce and twice more from white and glued them together to build up the dimension. I stamped the sentiment with distress oxide ink in my Misti and also used three layers to build up the dimension.  The kitty, cushion and bowl were mounted on foam squares to give them the shadow look. The whole panel was then mounted on foam tape onto the card base.

Thanks for stopping by!
