missing you

 hello crafty stampers!

I found a challenge I hadn't entered before so thought I would brush up on my CAS skills. The lovely people at Addicted to CAS have this week's challenge with the code word: leaf.

I recently received a new stencil from Paper Rose and had to try it out on a card. New for me, and so many ideas were swirling in my head. I do find it difficult to come to rest on just one idea, and especially for a CAS card, so many possibilities, so little time.  lol

The splash stencil from Paper Rose Mark Maker was blended with distress oxide inks to give an ombre effect using 2 colours and the top fading to white. The leaf was die cut from Altenew Leaf Mix die set and also blended using the same colours, and the same technique. The sentiment from Stampin Up Loyal Leaves was lastly stamped onto the panel.

So many people I haven't seen recently with our rolling Covid lockdowns, I have a feeling I'll be sending out a few of these type of cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

congratulations

 hello lovely stampers!

The girls over at the Just Us Girls challenge are celebrating their 600th challenge.  Wow! So I thought a congratulations card was in order 😊 The challenge this week is JUGS#600 - 6 of anything.

One of my favourite dies is the Altenew Leaf Mix die set which I don't use nearly enough but I thought I'd use it on this card as the leaves look beautiful lined up in a row.

Leaves were cut from a rainbow (well, 6 😁) of cardstock in various leaf shapes and mounted on a black card base. The sentiment from Altenew Ornamental Bliss was heat embossed in white on black card, layered up 3 times and glued over the leaves.  The card was finished with a few 'dew drops' from Stampin Up.

Great work, ladies, and keep the challenges coming!

Thanks for stopping by!

**Edit: I am so thrilled to be chosen as Chic of the Week for my card. Thank you so much!

hello

 hello sweet stampers!

I'm playing along with the current challenge from the lovely people at AAA Cards #186. Along the edge + only die cuts - right up my alley!

I started with the die cut hello - such a lovely font and a greeting all by itself! I cut it three times from white cardstock and Coastal Cabana. Then I layered them and glued them together to build dimension.

I chose a die that looks like fern fronds to make a little bunch and cut them from coastal cabana and also Daffodil Delight. Keeping in mind "along the edge" I arranged them all on the lower edge of the card. The colours really pop against the white - a beautiful combination. Lastly I die cut a leaf from the same set which has circle pop outs - usually thrown away, but perfect for embellishments on this "die cut only" card. Finally, I adhered the white card to a Coastal Cabana notecard.

So there you have it - 100% die cut, fresh and lovely.

Thanks for stopping by!

dies: Altenew leaf mix die set, simply hello die

missing you

 hello stampers!

Today I made a card for the challenge #473 put up by the lovely people over at Freshly Made Sketches.

I thought this was a lovely, simple design and so I wanted to create something elegant and fresh.

As you may know, I am a nature lover so leaves feature prominently in many of my cards.  I tried to create a sense of movement with the leaves blowing left to right across the card.

I started by stamping onto two cards, exactly the same using my Misti. Then I cut down one of the cards, mounted it onto a card base inked in the matching darkest colour ink, and just ever so slightly bigger.  Then mounted them both onto the base layer. I finished it off with a simple sentiment and a lone birdie was popped up on foam tape for dimension.

so proud of you

 hello!

Feeling crafty today - that's probably a good thing.  I thought a challenge would be fun and I found one that enticed me from the lovely people on PerfectlyCAS

The first challenge for 2021, #11:

I like this CAS idea of using only 1/3 or less of the card, which suits my (emerging) style.  Not always, but I think the cards I like most are simple and surrounded by white space. I'll try to do more of them and see where it leads...

I've always liked the look of a single leaf. There's something natural and powerful about it. It says 'This is me, just as I am".  No pretence.

Thanks for stopping by!

you're amazing

It's been warmer here the last few weeks, with the trees now in full leaf and sunny days more frequent. Sitting under a tree in the garden yesterday, enjoying the shade and gentle rustling of the leaves inspired the idea of this card.  The Just Add Ink challenge this week provided a simple template and the round birch leaf shape fitted perfectly.

The birch leaf is stamped in Garden Green on Garden Green card, then fussy cut to show off the lovely detail. Mounted on an embossed card showing the elegant trunks of birch trees forming the perfect backdrop. Some ink daubing on the sentiment toned down the whiteness, tying it in with the colours. Finished off with a couple of dewdrops to signify the soft supple new leaves of the season.

you made my day

I made a card to put in the Try Stampin on Tuesday challenge, because guess what?  It's Tuesday!  What better reason to spend the afternoon with paper and inks!

The TSOT #482 challenge provided a calming, pleasing template, and I was happy to go along with the feeling.

Don't you just looove the colour combination of Coastal Cabana and Shaded Spruce?  So pretty, so positive. I couldn't just have the banner in Coastal Cabana so I punched out some leaf fronds, and fussy cut the leaves from some Forever Greenery DSP (I just love that paper!) The circle is lifted on dimensionals and the sentiment finished with a few rhinestones. A simple but distinct card, I find the colours and sentiment lift my spirits.

here for you

Today I used the Freshly Made Sketches challenge FMS460 as inspiration for this card. Love the simplicity and boldness of the design, so I thought I'd go with a 'dependability' theme.

leaf

'here for you' uses a cardstock base in Whisper White. Old Olive and Garden Green strips were added as the top of the banner,  and some fronds from Forever Greenery DSP were fussy cut to make a leaf bouquet (is that a thing?) which forms the pointy banner ends.  The sentiment is stamped with Garden Green on a Whisper White strip. Dimensionals highlight the fronds and the sentiment.

I think the simple leaf fronds effortlessly posit themselves in the banner shape, conveying a dependability and generosity echoed in the sentiment. Just as leaves change from bright green to softer hues, the sense of the changing seasons is as dependable as an old friend.

Edit: Thank you so much for the "Honorable Mention" for my card - I enjoyed making it and look forward to the next challenge!
